We’re delighted to share how funding from The National Lottery Community Fund has helped Men in Sheds MK make a significant investment in our workshop, equipment and members.
Thanks to a grant of £14,432, we’ve been able to replace and upgrade several important pieces of workshop equipment, improve the PPE available to members, and carry out maintenance on some of the tools we already rely on.
One of the biggest additions is our new SawStop table saw. As well as being a substantial upgrade to our woodworking facilities, its blade-braking safety technology provides an important additional layer of protection for members using one of the workshop’s most frequently used machines.
The funding has also enabled us to purchase new drills and drivers, replacing ageing equipment and giving members reliable tools for projects around the Shed.
Over in the metal workshop, we’ve invested in a new R-Tech TIG welder, considerably improving the welding facilities available to our members and giving us equipment that can support both existing skills and members wanting to learn new ones.
Importantly, the grant hasn’t just been about shiny new machinery. It has also allowed us to invest in personal protective equipment and maintenance of existing tools, helping us keep the wider workshop safe, reliable and useful for everyone.
For Men in Sheds MK, good tools are about much more than the tools themselves. They enable members to make and repair things, learn from one another, share skills, work on community projects and, perhaps most importantly, spend time together.

The equipment purchased and maintained through the grant will benefit our members and the wider Milton Keynes community for years to come.
